Talia VandenBrink

Talia VandenBrink has been performing for as long as she can remember. This started as performances in her living room for anyone who’d watch, which then evolved into dance recitals when she started lessons at age 3 Talia often stood out, not only because of her “unique look” being mixed-race, but for her ability to learn quickly, as well as her calm and hardworking demeanor. Even at a very young age, she was easily able to retain choreography and from there her love for dance, music and performing, grew

In her early 20s, Talia spent her time backpacking; exploring different cultures and meeting people from around the world. After years of travelling, a friend invited her to watch a production of Cabaret. Passion for performing reignited, she applied for Capilano University’s Musical Theatre Diploma that night, and started school in the fall. She spent the next 3 years immersed in the world of the performing arts, training under some of the industry’s top professionals, focusing on acting for stage and screen, singing, and dancing. She has since studied acting with Starlise Waschuck and Jarryd Baine at McIlroy and Associates, and with Marvin Karon at Acting 4 the Camera. She has continued dance studies at City Dance Corps in Toronto and online with Heather Cornell of Manhattan Tap. 

Talia booked her first professional production with Canada’s second largest Shakespeare Festival: All’s Well That Ends Well at Bard on the Beach. Other notable credits include originating the role of Linden in Twentysomething (Calleja-Gustafson), Follies Girl in Crazy for You (RCMT), Zinnowitz in Grand Hotel (Arbutus Studio). She was also the lead in short film Unknown Caller which has since been recognized as a Singapore World Film Carnival Winner, Accord CineFest Winner, and Vancouver Independent Film Festival finalist. Talia has also appeared in commercials for Brands such as Coors Light, SiriusXM, Mary Kay and Acuvue among others. 

Having grown up in a predominantly Caucasian town, Talia understands the importance of representation. Talia dreams of filling the gaps she often sees in this industry, and inspiring the next generation of mixed-race artists.
