Kevin Lau

Kevin Matthew Lau is a Chinese-Canadian dancer, performer, choreographer, musician, and creative from Toronto, Canada. He grew up training in contemporary dance, hip-hop, ballet, jazz, and modern, and attended Claude Watson School for the Arts and later its continuing dance program at Earl Haig Secondary School in North York, Ontario. He is an alumnus of the School of Alberta Ballet in Calgary, under the directorship of Edmund Stripe, where he studied and was mentored in classical ballet, modern, character, and pas de deux by a distinguished faculty: Murray Kilgour, Wendy Wright, Graham Mckelvie, Aram Manukyan.

In 2020, Kevin graduated ‘summa cum laude’ from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee in Massachusetts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) Degree in Contemporary Dance. During his time at the conservatory, he had the privilege of performing the works and repertoire of prominent choreographers: Mark Morris, Zoe Scofield, Kate Weare, Ronald K. Brown, Jennifer Archibald, and Dam Van Huynh.

Additionally, he spent many of his summers training at world-renown intensives and workshops. That of which include: Springboard Danse Montréal (Canada), Arts Umbrella Dance (Canada), b12 (Germany), Nuovo Officina Della Danza (Italy), BODYTRAFFIC (U.S.A.), Ultima Vez (Belgium).

Throughout the years, Kevin has had the privilege of performing in countries including Germany, Canada, and the U.S, working with highly recognized choreographers and dancers: Monika Felice Smith, Micaela G. Taylor, Jessica Castro, Peggy Baker, Anne Plamondon, MaryAnn Chavez, Shamel Pitts, Eric Beauchesne, Tom Weinberger, David Norsworthy, Kristen Carcone, Christoph Winkler, Eduardo Vallejo Pinto, Gizem Aksu, Anibal Dos Santos, and Felix Landerer.
