David Z. Cohen
CAEA

David (he/him) has been performing as an actor, singer, dancer, and musician since his childhood. Growing up in Richmond, BC, David’s foundation in theatre, tap, and lessons in various instruments have allowed him to perform all over the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island, and Saskatchewan.

David discovered a love of improvisation and music throughout his high school years, competing in his high school’s Junior and Senior improv teams in the Canadian Improv Games. He also learned of his ability to pick up instruments quickly, currently including drums, bass, guitar, mandolin, merlin, trumpet, ukulele, harmonica, and piano. David was then given his school’s Theatre Award, among other academic and service distinctions.

David is honoured to have been a nominee and recipient of several awards, including a CTC Award, Ovation Awards, a Jessie Award, and the Aida Broadbent Award for Performance and Professionalism.
2010 was also an important year for David. In addition to continuing to perform in several productions around Vancouver, David was proudly featured as a singer for the Canadian National Anthem at the 2010 Olympic Closing Ceremony.

Continuing to expand his range through a variety of roles, David has now performed professionally in dozens of theatres including the Stanley Theatre, Firehall Theatre, Persephone Theatre, as well as touring productions with the Arts Club Theatre.

A hard worker with a professional demeanour, when he is not training, David is a constant student of the professional environment, continually learning about his craft with every opportunity.
