Tyler Layton-Olson is a versatile performing artist. For most of Tyler’s life he has focused on developing his skills in movement. But regardless of the medium, Tyler learns and expresses through acting, dancing, singing, and rapping, and loves all parts of the process.
Born in Nipawin, Saskatchewan, Tyler was enrolled in Ukrainian folk dancing which immediately sparked his interest in performing arts. Making a transition to other styles at his local studio four years later, Tyler delved into every style he could access. By 14 years old he was teaching tap and hip hop at the studio he attended.
Eager to further expand his abilities and life experience, Tyler moved to Vancouver, BC, for his final year of high school where he attended the prestigious Arts Umbrella Professional Half Day Program and signed with da Costa Talent Management in 2011. After graduation, he continued his dance training with Modus Operandi: School of Contemporary Dance. Tyler has since worked and traveled with contemporary dance companies such as Shay Kuebler; Radical System Arts, 605 Collective, Wen Wei Dance, and more.
Tyler’s unique look, physical awareness, charisma and ability to take direction has naturally led him to acting and on camera work. Since booking his very first audition for Famous Footwear, he has gone on to book numerous commercials, music videos, and feature films. Recently, he worked with Jesse L. Martin and Rick Cosnett on a short film titled The Letter Carrier, where he was left inspired and hungry for more stories to tell. Tyler continues to seek knowledge and round out his skills with private acting and vocal coaching.
