Non Union

Tyler Angell (he/they) is a dancer, educator, and award winning choreographer in Toronto. Growing up he trained in multiple disciplines of dance in Kitchener, Ontario, under the direction of Margo Hartley.

Tyler moved to Toronto in 2013 to train with Courtnae Bowman and Zhenya Cerneacov at The School Of Cadence Ballet, where they developed a strong foundation in vaganova technique, pas de deux, contemporary, and modern dance. As a student of the school they also worked closely with Cadence Progressive Contemporary Company, where they were given opportunities to perform in multiple theatres throughout the city. Now an alumnus from Cadence’s Post-Secondary Training Program, Tyler is now a leading contemporary faculty member for the school.

He since then has worked professionally with Joshua Beamish/MOVETHECOMPANY in “Saudade” which toured across Canada and Germany in 2021, and performed on the main stage of CINARS in 2022. He is also an active company member of Toronto’s Transcen|Dance Project, performing in “A Grimm Night” as Faun and “Eve Of St. George” as James. Other credits include: Hart Dance, Alysa Pires, Nostos Collectives in Toronto and Halifax, Trip The Light Fantastic in Montreal, Louis Laberge-Cotê, Little Pear Garden Dance Company, Patrick Roberge Productions Inc, Impromptu Movements, and Jeff Dimitriou.

Tyler has performed on stage and on film in several venues across Canada, and just recently presented a dance installation at Fashion Art Toronto in collaboration with Marisa Ricci- bridging the gap between performance art and the fashion industry. While a company member with Cadence Ballet, Tyler had the opportunity to choreograph his own work in company produced shows around the city. Since then he has been guest choreographing for multiple ballet schools- creating work on youth companies across Canada and the United States. In 2023, Tyler was the recipient of the Outstanding Choreographer award at the prestigious Youth America Grand Prix Finals.
