Sophie Gayler is 13 years old, and started dancing three years ago at her local studio. After a few months of experimenting with different dance styles, she fell in love with hip hop. Last year she started participating in competitions, and attended several dance conventions. She was fortunate to also participate in many wonderful performances at local and national community events. Sophie is a constant ambassador for dance, and often choreographs for school events.
This year she joined the prestigious Vanleena Dance Academy in North Vancouver, where she dances at the top performance level in hip hop. She also worked with Young Screen Actors’ Academy, Tarlington Training, and a local voice coaching program. Sophie has a natural talent in acting and screen work. She loves being on stage, and has participated in several school productions in her native England.
Sophie is often described as having an exemplary work ethic: she is passionate about dance, and works hard to achieve her goals. She is always ready for new challenges and opportunities to learn, and loves to share the results of her dedication.
Her efforts have been rewarded with several first place, platinum, and highest score solo awards. At this year’s 5-6-7-8 Showtime competition in Centralia, WA, she was awarded 1st place, and an invitation to dance at “World Dance Cup”.
Her whole family supports her dreams and are always there for her every step of the way.
When away from dance, Sophie studies classical piano and plays soccer at select level. She is currently taking her SCUBA diver certification, and is looking forward to taking her passion for photography underwater.
