Melissa is originally from Burlington, Ontario where she trained for 13 years. She studied, competed and was examined in Cecchetti (int.) ballet, highland, jazz, tap and lyrical. She then pursued further dance education at Ryerson University, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts majoring in Dance Performance. During her time at Ryerson, Melissa had the opportunity to work with some of Toronto’s most accomplished and influential artists, such as: TDT’s Christopher House, Robert Glumbek, D.A. Hoskins, Allen Kaeja, Johanna Bergfelt, Kenny Pearl, Vicki St Denys, Nadia Potts and many more.
Melissa’s most recent credits include: When Love is Not Enough, Women in Dance, True Review, Impulse, the Made for TV movie Molly: An American Girl, Kidomo Children’s Theatre: The Buster & Billy Show and The Clifford Show, as well as numerous industrials, community events, fundraisers, commercial work and much more.
She is currently the resident choreographer for St. Andrew’s College, working under Broadway and West End director, William Scoular, most recently choreographing Grease and Hamlet. Melissa also spends her time as the competitive lyrical and jazz coach for prestigious ballet academy in Oakville, Ontario, Allegro School of Dance. As well, she assists choreographer of ‘So You Think You Can Dance Canada’, Amy Wright in casting for TV/film projects. Melissa is a full member in the association of PAEC (Performing Arts Educators of Canada) in the disciplines of jazz and modern. As a teacher, it is Melissa’s habit to practice safe, challenging training in a positive, encouraging environment with the ambition to produce technically sound and intelligent dancers.
