With a natural groove and passion for music and rhythm, Megan was born to dance and entertain. Starting off with training in ballet, jazz, and tap at Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet, it disciplined her to a great foundation of dance. After only a few years of training she was scouted at the young age of 8 years old for her first professional dance role with Disney. From there the determination and passion only solidified, and Megan’s unequaled love for performing and creating movement still grows every day.
Once Megan had successfully graduated high school in Winnipeg she was presented with the decision to further her dance career with The Source Dance Company in Vancouver, or to follow her initial plans of pursuing her secondary education at the University of Manitoba. With no guarantee of what this move had in store, she followed her heart and continued the challenge of being a dancer. From that move, the rest is history. Megan has come a long way from her first steps in Vancouver and acknowledges that moving there was an essential direction for her career choice and life. It opened many doors with multiple dance companies and performance opportunities in Vancouver and launched her career in the urban and contemporary dance industry. Since her move not only has she extensively trained in other locations such as Los Angeles, Montreal, New York and Toronto, but it has presented her with necessary exposure on stage as well as onscreen.
A recent opportunity to perform with Bruno Mars for the 2011 MMVA’s was Megan’s confirmation to move to the east coast for new challenges and possibilities. Fusing contemporary, tap and urban movement, she is always pushing to create and establish her style that has been acknowledged and recognized as truly unique. Always wanting to be well educated with the fundamentals, her latest adventure has been educating herself with the movement of breakdancing. Since being seen on stage in Toronto, she was offered the role to create and learn with some of the most well respected and original breakdancing crews in the east coast. With her focuses in line it has led to Megan not only being flown across Canada as a guest instructor but now branching out internationally for her teaching and performing career. Happy with her most recent accomplishments of completing her first principal role in a nationwide commercial alongside being invited to be a part of the creative workshop process with international renowned company RUBBERBANDance Group in Montreal this summer, she has a lot to look forward to and is excited to see what’s next!
