Matthieu Handfield

Matthieu Handfield (he/him) is a multifaceted dancer, actor, singer and choreographer. He is an alum and graduate of the professional classical ballet program at L’École Supérieure de Ballet du Québec under the direction of Anik Bissonnette. Also trained in Contemporary, Jazz, Tap, and Hip-Hop and Ballroom, Matthieu has emerged from the classical world into the works of Musical Theatre and Commercial Dance. After receiving the title of Teen Mister Candance North America in 2015, he was cast as a featured soloist in the ensemble of Mary Poppins at the Théâtre Saint-Denis in Montreal at age 16. He shortly after went on to work for many projects in film and television, notably cast as “Fritz” in Hallmark’s A Nutcracker Christmas with Sophia Lucia and Sascha Radetsky. From then on, his strong classical background combined with his versatility landed him another featured soloist role in Fame at the Théâtre Saint-Denis in Montreal in 2018. While performing on Fame, he simultaneously played the role of himself on the hit televised dance competition reality show Révolution on the TVA network, alongside les Twins, Jean-Marc Généreux and Lydia Bouchard.

In 2019, he then got accepted into the Honours Bachelor of Music Theatre Performance program at Sheridan College, in which he is now completing his third year. As he began to increase his versatility as a dancer, actor and singer in this program, he was cast as a dancer on the hit Netflix show Ginny & Georgia in 2019. Through his professional experience and many years of training from now several institutions, Matthieu seeks to constantly perfect his skills as well-rounded triple threat and is constantly in search of new facets of his artistry. His immense love for collaboration and other genuine, kind and invested artists keeps him excited for all opportunities waiting for him in the future.
