Lando Cortez

ACTRA

Lando Cortez is a dancer and choreographer from the Philippines, now based in Toronto. Starting as a self-taught dancer at the age of 13, training in Hip Hop, he discovered his passion for dance and decided to pursue a professional career in the arts. Following his move to Canada, he took his training to new heights by seeking mentorship from Shavar Blackwood (The Male Initiative), and Lenny Len (Flavorshop), as well as traveling across Canada and the United States to attend conventions including Monsters, Kaos, R2D Camp, and street-style-focused training program, Footnotes Academy. With Lando’s dedication to his craft, he stays motivated to advance his training by taking drop-in classes at studios such as Studio North Toronto, The Underground Dance Centre, Movement Lifestyle, Millennium Dance Complex, and Live Dance Centre to name a few.

Lando started his professional career as a creative director of K9 Collective, and as a Hip-Hop teacher at The Underground Dance Centre. Since then, he was quickly recognized by the community, and the industry, due to his unique choreography and distinct style. Throughout his career, he has been privileged to perform on major stages such as Much Music Video Awards, Toronto Raptors North Side Crew, Dragons Den, TVO Kids Live Show, global campaigns such as Roots’ Global Campaign ‘Move In Comfort’, Instax “Give Instax” and most recently, was a part of Disney Zombies 3. In addition to performing, Lando has taught at several conventions and workshops across Canada, including Rhythm 2 Dance, Live Dance Centre, and K9 Collective. Lando is always looking for new ways to expand his knowledge, and is excited to see where his career takes him.
