Kurtis has always had the bug for performing, putting on self-written shows which he starred in for family and friends as a child, but didn’t do his first published show until he was 16 in high school. After doing several high school musicals Kurtis decided it was a no-brainer to go into musical theatre. With the assistance of the Campbell River Native Band, Kurtis went to Capilano University for their Musical Theatre Diploma program.
At Capilano U, Kurtis became completely immersed in the musical theatre scene in Vancouver. While in school Kurtis worked several seasons with Theatre Under The Stars as well as shows with Exit 22 and URP. In his final year at Cap, Kurtis was honored to play one of his dream roles, Angel in URP’s production of RENT. Kurtis was nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the Ovation Awards in 2017 for his work as Angel.
