Vancouver-born Kirsten Wicklund studied at Goh Ballet Academy and toured extensively with Canada’s Youth Ballet Company, performing principal roles in Giselle, Don Quixote and other classics. Kirsten received scholarships at American Ballet Theatre, Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Boston Ballet, PNB, and Washington Ballet, as well as a Vancouver Foundation Arts Study Award and the Vancouver Ballet Society’s Memorial Scholarship.

In 2007, she won the artistry award at the Youth America Grand Prix in NY and was the only Canadian in the Top 12 Women. She has toured with New York City Dance Alliance since winning their National Title and continues to teach master classes and workshops all over Canada and the USA.

Kirsten has danced with The Washington Ballet, Alonzo King’s choreographic workshop, created 3 works for Dances for a Small Stage and collaborated with LUNGE Dance Collective. Kirsten appeared on Season 3 of SYTYCD Canada and continued on to tour with Rasta Thomas’ Rock the Ballet, dancing the principal female role for the company of male ballet stars before returning to the concert dance world landing a contract with Ballet BC where she has been privileged to dance works by Lesley Telford, Medhi Walerski, William Forsythe, Emmanuel Gat, Wen Wei Wang, Cayetano Soto, Johan Inger, Jacopo Godani, Gustavo Ramirez Sansano, Walter Mateini, Emily Molnar, Crystal Pite, Ohad Naharin, Fernando Hernando Magadan, Sharon Eyal, and others.

Kirsten is going into her 5th season with Ballet BC where she is a full time company artist. She collaborates with international choreographers to create new works and continues performing the company’s repertoire of internationally acclaimed contemporary ballets.
