Kelly Shaw

Kelly is a BFA honours graduate from Ryerson University’s Performance Dance program, and recipient of the 2018 Jack McAllister award. Growing up as a competitive dancer; she trained in Ballet, Pointe, Contemporary, Modern, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Lyrical, and Musical Theatre. Over the years she earned Dance Masters of America titles: Jr. Miss Dance of America and Miss Dance of Canada. She also attended Quinte Ballet school, Joffrey Ballet school, Springboard Danse Montreal and studied Ohad Naharin’s Gaga technique in Barcelona and New York. Since graduating, Kelly has been a full time contemporary dance artist, teacher and choreographer travelling the world performing and collaborating with numerous choreographers and companies.

She has been featured in videos by musical artists: Stars, Shad and most recently a music video for Monkey House, directed and produced by Oscar winner Miles Dale. She has worked under the direction of Roberto Campanella, Jennifer Nichols, Anisa Tejpar, Guillaume Cote, Linda Garneau and Derek Piquette.

Kelly is a collaborator and performer with Toronto Contemporary stage/concert companies ProArte Danza, Human Body Expression, Citadel + Compagnie, Gadfly, Alysa Pires Dance Projects, Transcendance Project and was nominated for a 2018 Dora Mavor Moore award for a piece which toured to Korea in June 2019. She has been a part of Dance Ontario Weekend, Festival International de DansEncore, Festival des Arts de Saint-Sauveur, Toronto Fringe Festival, Capezio ACE awards (New York), Dance Matters and Hit and Run Productions.

Kelly is also a teacher and choreographer across the country; creating work for Conservatory, Professional and Pre-Professional programs, competitive studios and is certified as a Pilates and Barre fitness instructor.
