Kayla is an up and coming triple threat performer originally from Woodstock, Ontario. Growing up in rural Ontario left her lots of free time to study her passion; ballet. Having first set foot in a ballet studio at the age of three Kayla spent her formative years studying the R.A.D. ballet syllabus. After 15 years of training, she earned her Grade Eight Ballet Certificate with Honours as well as her Intermediate Vocal Certificate. The crowning moment of her young career was winning the “most promising pointe student” award at the Sur La Pointe Dance Festival. With the end of high school in sight, Kayla decided she wanted more than a career in dance.
Fortunately, Kayla’s dance background and her years of musical training helped get her into one of this country’s most prestigious Music Theatre training programs; Sheridan College. Her determination and hard work earned her the coveted “Triple Threat Performer Award” in two out of her three years at school. Kayla had the honour of working with some amazing directors while performing on the Mainstage at Sheridan; the highlight for her being when she got to play Becky Two-Shoes in Urinetown directed by Marek Norman. Kayla graduated at the top of her class in April 2008.
Since graduation, Kayla has been traveling around the country performing in regional theatres from New Brunswick to Alberta. She has high hopes for her career and looks forward to being a part of innovative new art all over the country. Keep your eyes on her, because this is one performer you’re going to be seeing a lot more of!
