“ Reach high, for stars lie hidden in your soul. Dream deep, for every dream precedes the goal.

– Pamela Vaull Starr – Poet, Artist, Writer

Katrina Reynolds was born in the Bahamas, where she stayed until she was five years old. At that time, she and her two loving and supportive parents moved to Guelph, Ontario. Right away she started dancing and singing lessons and was performing in community theatre. Katrina always knew what it was that she was going to be doing for the rest of her life. Her parents say that she was a born performer.

Katrina’s vibrant personality and energetic spirit along with her God given talents made it obvious what the next step was in pursuing her dream. For her post-secondary education she would train at the Randolph Academy of Performing Arts. Randolph was the perfect place for Katrina to grow as an artist. During those years she became very passionate about acting and graduated as a Triple Threat, and played Pennywise in Urinetown the Musical in her final show. This was just the beginning of a blossoming career in Canadian musical theatre.

The day before she got her diploma she found out that, out of the 600 plus hopefuls to attend the open calls, she was chosen to be in the cast of HAIR at Canstage! Before the production of HAIR was over she was offered the part of Michelle in Dreamgirls with director Tim French at Stage West Calgary. When she returned from Calgary she was informed that she was to attend a last minute audition for the SHAW Festival. She was offered a spot in the company less than 30min after she auditioned. In One hour she picked up the keys to her new home in Niagara on the Lake and found out that she would be in the ensemble of Mack and Mabel, playing the Tango Dancer in Morris Panych’s Hotel Pecadillo and understudying Rosa Gonzales in Summer and Smoke!

After a wonderful season at Shaw, Katrina was thrilled to find out that Dreamgirls was going to be done again but this time as a co-production between Theatre Aquarius and Manitoba Theatre Centre. This time instead of Michelle she would be playing Lorelle the baby of the group. This would soon become her signature role played at three different theatre companies and receiving rave reviews.

After Dreamgirls she got to do some really fun work at Stage West Calgary and Mississauga in the smash hit pop review One Hit Wonders and the super hysterical 80’s show, The Wedding Singer, The Musical where she got to impersonate one of her idols, Tina Turner!

Onwards and upwards! Katrina will be playing Little Inez in the upcoming star studded cast of HAIRSPRAY at Charlottetown Festival! And you may catch her on television in her new McDonald’s commercial!
