Kalie is a dynamic and versatile performer having trained in classical and contemporary ballet, modern, jazz, tap and musical theatre. Originally from Victoria, BC, she graduated with a BA from the School of Alberta Ballet/University of Calgary in 2004. During her third year at school she was awarded the Terpsichore Scholarship, and upon graduation she was chosen for the commencement dance award, given to the student who shows the most spirit and creativity. Directly after University, Kalie was lucky enough to participate in a dance travel study through Poland, where she took part in the Bytom Festival.

Upon return to Canada, Kalie joined Calgary based contemporary company La Caravan Dance Theatre and spent one season in the creative process and then performing new works, “In Proximity,” and “The Corridor.” Offered a second season, Kalie decided to see the world instead and left on a six star cruise ship, the Silver Whisper. Under contract for Jean Ann Ryan Productions, she was a featured dancer and most notably, a featured silks aerial acrobat artist.
Currently she considers Toronto home and spent her first year in the city dancing for Ballet Espressivo in works such as “Uprising,” “Forbidden Fruit and Rotten Apples” and “Don Quixote.” Kalie was also a part of the short dance films “Contrapunctus” and “I Can’t Go On;” the latter which was screened at The Malta International TV Short Film Festival.

Last year Kalie made her musical theatre debut in Beauty and the Beast which was a co-production between The Citadel Theatre and Theatre Calgary. Most recently she returned to Alberta in Theatre Calgary’s production of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

Kalie has also taught nationwide and most currently is on staff at Metro Movement as the jazz basics instructor. Her class is high energy, fun and she is known for her ability to improve technique and alignment.
