Justina Janzen started dancing at the age of six at Broadway Lights Dance Studio and joined their competitive team a year later. She currently trains in jazz, lyrical, contemporary, ballet, acro, hip hop, tap and musical theatre. She has won many scholarships, awards and has held two titles; Junior Miss Dance Canada and Intermediate Miss Shine Dance Acro. She was also a member of the 2014 and 2015 Team Canada Ballet Jazz and Modern teams, bringing home a total of 8 medals (3 Gold, 2 Silver, 3 Bronze)
Justina had the opportunity to perform with Edyta Sliwinska and Alec Mazo, as well as other dancers from Dancing with the Stars and So You Think You Can Dance, in the stage production Dance Star at the Avalon Ballroom Theatre. She was also cast as a spotlight dancer in Lost Penny, which premiered last year at the Manhattan Film Festival and the Niagara Integrated Film Festival. It was just recently released on DVD. She has performed at various functions and shows in Toronto area and had the opportunity to also dance in both Disneyland and Disney World.
In addition to dancing Justina also takes vocal lessons. She started singing lessons at the age of 12. She has competed in a number of music festivals over the last few years. She was named “Most Promising Musical Theatre Performer” three years in a row and was also a provincial finalist in 2014 and 2016. Justina has been in a number of school musicals. Last year, she was honoured to be cast as Annie in her school’s production of Annie. Justina also takes piano lessons and has taken some introductory lessons on the flute and clarinet, as well.
Justina is an honour roll student. She is enrolled in the dance program at her local high school. Justina is dedicated, focused and has a great work ethic.
