“Everybody can dance; it is the drive and passion that makes you a dancer.”

From small town girl, to big city dreamer! Jenna Shortt has been dancing since the young age of 4, and hasn’t stopped since. With 14 years of competitive dance training in various styles ranging in Tap, Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Musical Theatre, Lyrical, and more; her passion for dance spread into an all around love of the arts and soon after began acting and singing. She graduated from her performing arts High School with honours and took a leap of faith to pursue her dreams as a professional dancer.

Since moving to Toronto, Jenna has had the opportunity to train under some of the industry’s most influential people. She has been a part of Hot in Heels Canada for four seasons, as well as assisting company director Angela Mahoney-Jones, for three of those. Alongside HIH, Jenna trained with The Vibe Ladies, an all female Hip Hop cast directed by George Jones Jr. These connections lead Jenna to work as part of the skeleton crew for the Netflix movie Work It, choreographed by Aakomon Jones, Amy Allen, and Marc ‘Marvelous’ Inniss. During this time, Jenna was also touring North America with The Pulse Dance Experience, assisting commercial professionals such as Katy Tate, Gil Duldulao, Chris Judd, Lane Napper, and many more. After finishing out her year with The Pulse, she flew out to Los Angeles where she spent three months in a private training program, Motivating Excellence, with none other than Rhapsody James. While there, Jenna got the opportunity to dance in LA Carnival representing Rhapsody, and developed more of her acting training with actor Nicco Annan from the hit tv series P-Valley. She finished off the program performing in Motivating Excellence’s Season 8 show ‘MOOD’. One of Jenna’s goals has been to start modelling and dappled in print work for Walmart in their 2019 spring campaign.

Though 2020 proved a challenge, Jenna has continued her training and is further developing her acting and singing to coincide with her dance background. She is ready to attack 2021 and anything it has in store for her, and make her journey unforgettable.
