Ian Walsh

Originally born in Warrington, Lancashire, England Ian emigrated with his family to Ontario, Canada when he was quite young but he seemed to hold onto his English heritage, especially that of its medieval history. Being a rather dramatic child it was after his first performance in high school that Ian realized his heart was in entertainment and although there have been quite a few ups and downs over the years, his heart still beats with the same passion. Ian now has over 25 years of theatre, film, medieval reenactment, and teaching experience.

After attaining his BA in Theatre from the University of Windsor Ian has worked as an actor, stage manager, instructor and fight director at various theatres, schools and sets across Ontario.

Never one to sit still, Ian combined his love of stage combat and medieval history to form Blackthorn Productions Inc. Blackthorn specializes in Medieval Education & Entertainment and presents medieval history to grade 4 classes at schools across Ontario. They also appear at festivals, private functions, and have organized their own medieval feasts. In addition, Ian teaches stage combat to students of all ages across Ontario and has travelled as far as Lions Head on the Bruce Peninsula and Cobalt, north of North Bay.

Ian’s writing has taken off in the last two years as well. With his writing partner he has written a TV series that they hope to get produced. They have also created a second script that they are currently producing themselves.

His latest foray is into voice work, something that he has wanted to do since beginning his career. With the changing face of entertainment and the world at this time, it seemed a smart move. He has his own voice set up in his home studio and is planning many projects.
