Davis Okey

CAEA

Davis Okey-Azunnah (he/him) is a Toronto based performer whose love for the stage and performance dates to “as long as he can remember”. He is a triple-threat originally from Lagos, Nigeria with performance credits spanning through major regional stages across Canada. Select theatre credits include: Beautiful: The Carole King Musical (Segal Centre, Montreal; Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre, Winnipeg); Grease and Rock of Ages (Mayfield Theatre, Edmonton); Rocky Horror Show (Neptune Theatre, Halifax); The Soul of Motown (Stage West, Calgary) and Songs for a New World (Buddies in Bad Times, Toronto). He has also appeared in Film/TV projects such as Olympians at Heart (BYUtv), I Like Movies (Mongrel Media/Netflix), Secret Society of Second Born Royals (Disney) and various National Commercials.

Growing up, he surrounded himself with music and his love for the arts led him on a quest to seek materials and avenues that would help improve his craft; At a very young age he joined his local gospel choir and so began this journey. His drive, hard work and thirst for knowledge resulted in him teaching himself to master vocal techniques and further explore various dance forms including hip-hop, jazz, contemporary and Afrobeats. Following his move to Toronto he received additional training from some of Canada’s leading instructors in voice, dance and acting making him the solid performer he has grown to become.

Davis is passionate about storytelling as well as developing new and authentic Canadian works; he explores this passion by creating and writing new materials, together with actively participating in workshops and readings for new projects. He recently originated the role of Jdub in Brown Eyes: A New Musical (Talk is Free Theatre and Musicals Reimagined) and hopes to keep bringing life to many more new stories.
