Christopher Ryan has appeared in opera, musical theatre, theatre, film and television across Canada. Favourite roles include Signor Valentino Houdini/Saidye Bronfman, Kevin Wallace LOTR TMTM/ Toronto Fringe Festival; Henrik A Little Night Music/Dry Cold Productions; Papageno The Magic Flute, baritone soloist Carmina Burana with the RWB/NAC Orchestra; Dottore Malatesta Don Pasquale/Saskatoon Opera; Antonio Le Nozze di Figaro/Manitoba Opera; Butler Joseph, M. D’Arque, Beauty and the Beast/Rainbow Stage; Billy/Lilly/Peachum Weill in Weimar 1929, Commissario/ Yamadori Madama Butterfly/Edmonton Opera; Capt. Corcoran Pinafore, Strephon Iolanthe/Winnipeg G&S Society; and creating the role of Senator Gideon Robertson in the premiere of Strike! the musical.
Christopher trained at the University of Toronto, the Royal Conservatory of Music, the University of Manitoba and at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City as well as various summer specialty institutes across North America. He has taught singing for 20 years privately as well as having been on faculty at the Manitoba Conservatory of Music, The Canadian Mennonite University and the University of Winnipeg as professor/singing instructor teaching singing, theater and opera. Many of his students have gone on to professional careers and are working across North America and Europe.
