“Acting is not rocket science, but it is an art form. What you are doing is illuminating humanity.”
– Viola Davis

Many would consider Cecilly to be a late bloomer when it comes to her discovery of theatre however she had been performing in her backyard in Maple Ridge before she even knew what a stage was. In high school, she developed a love for singing and music through the choral direction of Carrie Tennant however, outside of class, competitive sports consumed most of her time. It wasn’t until she had reached grade 11 that she found herself in a Cinderella pantomime, channelling Matron Mama Morton into a twisted take on the Fairy Godmother. From that first performance, she knew that acting was the career she needed to pursue.

Cecilly attended the University of Victoria for 4 years where she obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. While she enjoyed discovering the various aspects of theatre in the classroom, she always made sure to keep one foot in the community as well. Cecilly performed in several musicals during her time in Victoria before taking a chance and auditioning for Theatre Under The Stars’ production of Hairpsray. Since her return to Vancouver, Cecilly has been fortunate to perform in productions of various musical genres.

Some recent credits include: Sarah in Ragtime, Dionne in Hair, and Marta in Company. Cecilly has also performed with Theatre Under the Stars, Awkward Stage Productions, and the Vancouver Fringe Festival. Around Vancouver you may also find her singing in benefit cabarets or dancing with the Geekenders’ burlesque company.
