Autumn-Joy Dames (she/her), originally from The Bahamas, is an energetic, fierce and hardworking Toronto-based triple threat performer. Her life experiences have always led her to the stage as she’s extremely passionate about story-telling. Growing up, Autumn-Joy trained extensively in numerous dance styles including ballet, jazz, tap and hip hop. She also trained vocally as a member of The Bahamas National Youth Choir, which afforded her the opportunity to perform throughout Germany, Cuba and Italy, where she had the honour of singing in St. Peter’s Basilica.
In pursuits to continue her training, Autumn-Joy studied Theatre Performance at Holland College. Since graduating, she has worked professionally across the U.S. and Canada in Shopkins Live. Some of her favorite musical theatre credits include Sister Act (Lower Ossington Theatre), Andy Warhol Musical (Theatre Passe Muraille) and more recently Legally Blonde (Hart House Theatre). Autumn-Joy finds excitement in every aspect of the creative process, choreographing a new musical Off The Island which debuted at the 2019 Toronto Fringe Festival.
Autumn-Joy adores training and is committed to growing as a performer daily. She attends Metro Movement dance studio weekly and takes vocal lessons and acting courses in the city to hone her craft. She continuously pushes herself to attain her goals and always welcomes new adventures.
