Ana Persijn Alarcon (she/her) was born in Holguin, Cuba. She has been involved in the arts for as long as she can remember! As a young child, Ana was part of different dance and drama groups in Cuba. She was also one of few who went on to study piano at the prestigious Escuela Vocacional de Arte in Holguin at the age of 7.
Growing up in Toronto, she began to discover her love for musical theatre and opera and knew she wanted to have a career in the arts. Ana went to Father John Redmond Catholic Secondary School where she was part of the vocal program and had many choral and solo opportunities. Ultimately, she decided to focus her studies on classical music and attended The University of Western Ontario.
While at Western, Ana was involved in choral ensembles including the Western University Singers. She also had the opportunity to work with the opera workshop program and was part of their ensembles, including The Magic Flute. She also made her very first musical theatre debut with the King’s College Players in their winter production of Catch Me if You Can. She went on to graduate from Western in 2019 with honors in Vocal Performance.
While at university, Ana also discovered another passion; teaching! She has been teaching privately since 2019 and hopes to instill in her students the joy of music. Recently Ana made her professional musical theatre debut with Drayton Entertainment in their production ofThe Sound of Music. Other notable credits include Ismene/Seherazad in Hospcoth with First Steps Theatre, live spanish concert of Viva la Zarzuela with the Toronto Operetta Theatre, Gwendolen Fairfaw in Earnest, The Importance of Being with SOLT and Hamlet with Western Theatre Studies.
Aside from acting and teaching, Ana spends her free time sewing, listening to music, with her friends and family and her cat Kika. The support of her loved ones, combined with her endless love of the arts, is what propels Ana to continue to perform and grow as an emerging artist!
