Bursting with energy at seven years old, Alex Maslanka began his training in jazz at Nancy Pattison’s Dance World in his hometown, Windsor Ontario. At the age of 9 he expanded into different styles of dance that include: ballet, tap, hip-hop, lyrical and also ballroom at Ballroom At Its Best. Just two years later he joined the competitive team at his studio. Alex has completed his Cecchetti ballet, tap, and jazz exams ranging all levels from primary to advanced. This competitive athlete has won many first place overalls and highest overall scores as well as many awards in competitions in North America such as: Junior Crew Member at Celebrity Dance, Teen Dancer of the Year at American Dance Awards, Mr. Senior High score at Dance Makers Inc., winner of the Tremaine Freestyle Face Off, several judges choice awards for most entertaining soloist, and he was honored with the award of National Dancer of the Year at Tremaine Dance in Orlando Florida, which is only given to six deserving dancers per year. Some of his T.V credits include: The Daily Buzz (a Step Up 5 and Tremaine promotion with Stephen “tWitch” Boss, Briana Evigan and Joe Tremaine), Figure It Out music video for artist Emma-Lee, as well as the radio station mix 96.7 Flash Mob.This talented dancer is truly a force to be reckoned with.

Alex is a part of a North American tour dance company “Tremaine Performance Company” where he trains with professional dancers and choreographers, performs with them, and assists in their classes. Throughout his four years of competing and attending conventions, he has had the opportunity to perform in convention galas and faculty shows. This has allowed him to interact with professional dancers including: Kent Boyd, Ade Obayomi, Tony Bellissimo, Marty Dew, Tiffany Maher, Meghan Sannet, Mark Goodman. He has received numerous scholarships for master classes and intensive workshops in various studios in L.A, including: The Edge Performing Arts and Debbie Reynolds Dance Studio. Taking advantage of those scholarships, Alex had great opportunities to work with amazing professional choreographers/dancers that include; Teddy Forance, Nakul Dev Mahajan, Mandy Moore, Stephen “Twitch” Boss, Dee Caspary, Derrick Schrader Travis Wall, Keri LaGrand and Bradley Rapier.

His passion for dance is remarkable. At the age of 15 Alex moved away from his home to try his luck in Toronto and to perfect his dance training in ballroom, international Latin, and standard. He was rewarded for this brave transition when he submitted a dance video and he was accepted into the grade 11 Regional Arts Program in St. Elizabeth Catholic High school. He has since been training with top Canadian professional latin champions Kamil Studenny, Anna Pelypenko, Richard Tonizzo, Claire Hansen, and Larissa Kerbel, as well as other top world class professionals. In 2014 Alex and his ballroom partner won a bronze medal at the Canadian Championships and also became North American Junior Champions. They were finalists of many Canadian and U.S competitions. This dynamic duo was also selected to represent Canada for the 2014 World Standard and 10 Dance Champion-ships held in Latvia and Moldova.

Alex prides himself in his versatility as a dancer. His passion and determination for dance is never ending and his hard work and dedication will continue to benefit him towards achieving his goals. Currently Alex is at-tending York University, working towards earning his degree in Bachelor of Fine Arts majoring in dance where he was accepted with the Talent Entrance Scholarship.
